Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Bihar, today on Wednesday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Nalanda University Chancellor Arvind Panagariya attended the inauguration ceremony.
PM Modi described Nalanda University as 'symbol of India's vibrant cultural exchange and academic heritage'. The event saw the presence of many eminent personalities and ambassadors from more than a dozen nations.
The new campus of one of the world's oldest universities has been constructed near the ruins of Nalanda University, as it existed in ancient times.
PM Modi said that Nalanda embodies India's identity, respect, value and mantra. After being sworn-in as the Prime Minister for the record third term, this is Narendra Modi's first official visit to the state.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, " I am happy that I got the opportunity to visit Nalanda within 10 days after swearing in as PM for the 3rd time...Nalanda is not just a name, it is an identity and respect. Nalanda is a value and mantra...fire can burn books, but it can't destroy knowledge."
Writing post in X PM Modi said, "Today, we are inaugurating the new campus of Nalanda University. It is a reiteration of our commitment to encourage learning, research and innovation. It is also an effort to draw the best scholars from the world to come and pursue their education in our country."
