Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh passes away: Sardar secret in blue turban

Former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh died at Delhi's AIIMS hospital on Thursday. He was 92. The Congress party veteran was being treated for age-related medical conditions. He could not be revived and was declared dead at 9.51pm, the hospital statement said.
Manmohan Singh, stelwart politician with economics specialization, was Prime Minister for two terms in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government from 2004 to 2014. He had been in poor health for the last few months.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered his predecessor as the "most distinguished leaders". Other leaders across party lines also offered their tributes to the former prime minister.
The body of the former PM will be kept at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi for public viewing.
Making the remarks while being honored with a Doctorate of Law in 2006, Singh explained that light blue is one of his favorite colors and a reminder of his memorable days at Cambridge.
Manmohan Singh was often seen in a blue turban and was often questioned about the choice of colour. During a speech, the former Prime Minister who died on Thursday night, had revealed the secret behind his iconic turbans. Singh revealed that the blue turban was a nod to his alma mater, the University of Cambridge.
